Twitter is by no means the easiest way to stay connected to friends and follow persons of interest on the Internet these days. Sharing, updating or communicating via short status messages makes it fun, just like texting because you have 140 characters to get your message across. But what makes Twitter a life saver for us as bloggers?

I have been using Twitter for some times now to help me and my blog in a good way. So I will share with you 5 reasons you can use Twitter to boost your blog.

Use Twitter To Get FREE Targetd Traffic

If you have people that are interested in to hear/see what you have to say, then they will no doubt follow you. This is the first step in getting targeted traffic from Twitter.

But it all starts with writing great blog posts of high quality and adding your Twitter link or button on your blog. Place it in the sidebar with an eye-catching icon so that you can grab followers quickly.

Next thing you have to do is to tweet in order to get some traffic. Each time you make a tweet your followers will see it and if your tweet is interesting enough then you will have those followers coming to your blog. You have to be tactful when tweeting and to make sure use sentences which will entice your followers to want to read more.

If you do this then your followers can become targeted traffic.

Twitter Helps With Fresh New Ideas

I follow lots of bloggers on Twitter and when they make a tweet I will sometimes click on the link to read their article. After reading their article I will sometimes leave a comment and after that I sometimes get new ideas to start a new project or to write a new article on my blog.

You can spark new ideas for a blog post if you follow people who blog in your niche. So be sure to look out for their tweets and then brainstorm to get some cool new ideas for your next blog post.

Twitter Builds Relationship

I have gotten to know more about the people I follow on Twitter and they have also got to knowpre about me.

Blogging is about networking and building up relationships with other bloggers or your blog readers is the best way to go. This will make it easy to fellow bloggers to comment on your blog, it will also help you to affiliate market to your readers when it comes to that part of the making money online.

So don’t be afraid to be friendly to your Twitter neighbours.

Twitter Helps To Build Your Brand

You can build a brand for your blog by using hash tags in your tweets. Hash tags can also help to make your blog go viral and make your blog more popular.

A very popular blog or brand is always being tweeted on Twitter and never seems to lose it’s sparkle when it gets millions of tweets. Remember Twitter is filled with millions of people and using it to build up your brand is one of the best ways to go and it is also free.

Twitter Is Free For All

This is one of the best reasons why Twitter can be a life saver, because it’s free to use. Just imagine if you had to pay to use Twitter whether monthly or weekly. That wouldn’t be a life saver.

To make the best use of this free service is to use it to the full and get the most traffic that you can out of it. Build up your followers and the more you have then the more others will want to follow you.

QUICK TWITTER TIP

:Remember to be polite and not to flood the people that follow you. This will show that you have respect for your followers and they will be more likely to click on the links that you tweet.

That’s a good point. The followers you most want are those who follow you because they are interested and think they will get value from your tweets.

      Hey lhaizza,

Yes that is very true. It makes no sense in having followers that won’t be interested in your tweets.

      Thanks for the comment.

Twitter is definitely one of the best platforms you can use for business. There is a power in 140 character tweet. However, you must first work on your blog and contents so that when traffic goes to your blog, they won’t get disappointed on you and will surely come back to your site. Relationships in twitter must also be well maintained.

Yep, you have 140 characters you can tweet, and you have to make the best use of it. And you are so right with that point about content. This means you have to make content as king on your blog

      Thanks for the comment

Well I get little traffic from Facebook. It’s not that much. But my Twitter traffic is high. Most of my traffic comes from social bookmarking sites, referring sites and StumbleUpon. Thanks for the comment.

Please I am also asking you to make a comment on my other post located here – http://bit.ly/gE6Ap1

I just recently setup a new Twitter account for the new site I’m working on and I must say – I forgot how fun it was. I guess you get a bit bored from certain channels over time; I’m amazed at how many ideas I’m kicking up from focusing and following different people for a change ha!

I’ve been using Twitter now for almost two years and it’s done everything you‘ve mentioned. I’ve built my brad, got new customers and used it for the marketing tool it is. I’m followed friends and meet people outside of my own community I may have never meet without it. I must prefer twitter then Facebook and in fact I get more out of twitter than any other network I use besides blog engage.

Hello Kharim. I agree with your first point in that you’ll receive targeted followers. It has to be said tho’, that your Twitter can be full of unrelated people. So it may be good practice to make sure your account is as targeted as possible.

I have a lot of followers in my main Twitter account, but I get a small traffic account from them. Anyway, Twitter helps me to stay keep informed with news related to my blog and it has replaced RSS feeds as my main source of information.

I actually deleted my main Twitter account a while back because I didn’t like the direction it was going but I did eventually come back but with a different approach where I’m only really connecting on a very personal level and being very selective with what I tweet.

Unfortunately I get very little traffic from twitter, even though I have around 1650 followers and I tweet daily I get only a few visitors if any on my blog, in my opinion and experience Facebook it’s a much better way to get traffic, nevertheless I suppose that it’s better to get traffic from as many sources as you can!

      Kostas,

I have found a bit of the opposite. I have been working on connecting with my Twitter list a little bit and i find I get a lot more traffic thru twitter daily than facebook. Specifically now that they have changed the way shortened URLS work.

(in a nutshell the traffic shows up as “twitter.com” now qa lot more often where it used to show up as the url or the shortener)

I have only about 750 followers on Twitter, I get a pretty decent amount of traffic from it. Its not about the amount of followers that you have, but the amount that are active and who are interested in your tweets.

      Thanks for the comment.
