In Internet advertising, a clickthrough refers to the process by which a visitor clicks on an online ad and goes to the advertiser’s website or to the page where the advertised item can be bought. Also known as an ad click or request, it is basically the term used to refer to the click done on an ad to find out what’s behind the ad or to place a purchase. It sounds very elementary and simplistic but it’s not that simple trying to increase it, to have more clickthroughs or a higher clickthrough rate for an online marketing campaign.

Improving ad clickthrough rates is not just about raising the number of ad clicks. Beyond the numbers, there is the need to maintain the balance of clickthroughs and usability. It’s vital never to sacrifice a site or blog’s usability just for the sake of clickthroughs since such a strategy will most likely backfire. A page that has been made barely usable will drive away returning visitors or encourage them to make use of ad blockers.

The following are some of the most effective methods for increasing click through rates while maintaining usability:

Focus on a niche or specific topic

You can’t expect to engage readers in your blog if you keep writing about random things. If you are creating a blog that is meant to be monetized mainly through clickthroughs, choosing a specific subject or niche matters. Visitors are less likely to click on links or ads within a blog if they just happened to stumble upon the blog compared to those who intently searched for particular content. Users of the web nowadays no longer easily fall to big banners and flashy texts that advertise random “interesting” things.

Wisely position your ads

The way ads are arranged also significantly matters. The keyword here is “exposure.” You have to place your ads on portions that are easily conspicuous to readers. Aside from considering the fact that most people read blogs with an F-shaped pattern, also consider obtaining a heat map of where your visitors click the most on your blog. Use a tool like Crazy Egg to generate your heat map. Obviously, you will want to position your ads on the portions where visitors do the most clicks.

Or, forget the typical banner ad approach and use more interesting ways for getting attention for ads. Infolinks, for example, has constantly worked to provide smarter, contextual based ads that provide more focused ad copy and higher performing ads increasing engagement. Their inText ads are great for overcoming banner ad blindness and works by double underlining high value keywords that present targeted ads when hovered. In addition, they offer very specific customization  features that allow publishers to match a precise look and feel.

intext

Be reminded, however, that you should make sure that ad placement never becomes obtrusive. Overall design and layout should remain pleasant. For the most part, you can rely on your own judgment in deciding whether or not your blog’s design is still comfortable for your readers. Else, refer to design guides to come up with something universally acceptable.

Write interesting and useful content with appealing or eye-catching titles and add thumbnails

Don’t waste the opportunity of making a visitor stay in your blog longer. Ensure that the content you post is interesting, useful, and given eye-catching titles. They should also have thumbnails (for the links or content snippets) to attract attention. You don’t have to see an authoritative research report to realize that it’s always preferable to have images in your blog, in both the content proper and the summaries or snippets.

Content is a vital factor even when it comes to increasing clickthroughs. Quality content adds to the credibility to a blog, making visitors feel assured that the blog they are visiting is not just some shabbily created page that could possibly distribute viruses or malware. Very few people would be interested in clicking anything on a blog that is covered by all types of ads, with the content portion taking up only a small fraction of the page.

Make the ads blend with the blog’s overall design and theme

In addition to good ad positioning, you also have to make sure that your ads don’t look different from your blog. Use the same or complementary colors. Don’t make the ads stand out in the wrong way. Many users of the web are already familiar with Google ads, for example, that they do the conscious effort of wanting to avoid clicking on them since they know that they will only be brought to a new page or tab that is not related to the blog they are currently reading.

Create links within your site or other sites you own

To keep  your readers longer on your blog, make it a point to have internal links within your posts most of the time. These links should be relevant to the article, though. Also, use blog widgets that recommend related to content to your readers at the bottom of a post. If you are writing long articles, you can make them appear in multiple pages to encourage more clicks within the blog and let the ad banners or boxes refresh to make them show new ads that readers may find interesting.

Internal links are important not only for search engine optimization but also in keeping a visitor longer in a blog. Also, when properly implemented, internal linking should add value to a post. These internal links can lead to other content that explain certain points mentioned in the post.

Pay attention to the length of your content and page

Always bear in mind that most users of the web tend to either have shorter attention spans or tunnel vision. If you write lengthy posts in long pages, many readers will likely look for other blogs that can offer more concise presentations. If you successfully make them read your lengthy article, readers may end up concentrating on them and ignoring the ads on the sides, top, or bottom. The length of your content and page matters so be sure to keep it in check.

A study by Medium concludes that the optimal blog post length is 7 minutes or around 1,600 words. This is, however, not your basis in coming up with the ideal length for increasing clickthroughs. For more ad clicks, you need it to be shorter. If you separate a long blog post into several pages, with each page having around 200-400 words, you can help improve clickthroughs. This is because the ad banners will be refreshed and the reader will be forced to go back to the top portion of the blog page and read through, creating more opportunities for readers to possibly click on the ads they see.

Always remember that efforts to increase clickthroughs should always be balanced with blog or site usability. “Trapping” readers into compulsorily clicking on your ads will create a bad user experience and discourage returning visitors. Similarly, forcing readers to repetitively click into the site to view the content they want to view creates an unpleasant experience. Balance should always be taken into account.

You can’t have a website without a domain name, even if that domain name is one given to you by your website host. Any professional knows that a great domain name is a main consideration when building a website. Don’t settle for the freebie that came along with the hosting package – choose one that’s easy to remember and that reflects your business.

1. Brainstorm: Think of five words or phrases that best reflect your website goal, whether you’re setting up ecommerce web hosting or simply want to write a blog about your life. Put together these words (which can contain your business name), add prefixes, play with suffixes, and jot down your favorite domain name ideas.

2. Choose a Unique Domain: Once you have a few ideas, search on Google to see if anyone else has similar domain names. If you want DomainName.com and somebody’s already setup DomainName.net, these two are too close for comfort – you’ll want something more unique that can’t be confused with what’s already out there.

3. Choose a Dot Com: If you want a high quality website, you have to go with a high quality domain name. Anything .net or .biz won’t be taken seriously, then you definitely want a .com. You can have those other domain names, but your main one should always be a .com.

4. Simplify: Your domain name should be easy to remember and simple to type. There shouldn’t be any characters, like underscores or hyphens, and the spelling should be basic. Some people even believe that certain letters are easier to type than others (“c” and “p,” for example). Plus, your domain name should be easy to remember. Something catchy is great, but a person’s name (unless they’re a celebrity) isn’t a great idea. Lastly, keep your domain name as short as possible.

5. Make it Obvious: Unless you’re a wildly popular brand, like Monster.com, your domain name should communicate what your company is about. Otherwise, your business is going to need a lot of extra branding.

6. Make it Legal: Copyright infringement is a big deal. Before you pick a business name and register a domain, check out Copyright.gov to make sure you’re not stepping on anybody’s toes.

Don’t cut corners when it comes to your domain name – it’s one of the things that you won’t want to change once your website traffic starts to climb.

part-time blogging

When it comes to blogging most of the bloggers today have a secular job or have schooling activities to take care of. Do you think that blogging can work for such persons?

Blogging takes up a lot of time especially if you really want to become a successful blogger. This is because blogging is challenging due to the amount of blogs being created on a daily basis which makes it hard for your blog to stay on top. But can you make blogging work for you even though you have a busy schedule? Yes it can.

In this article I am going to share with your 5 tips on how you can make blogging work for you if you are a part-time blogger.

Create A Blogging Schedule

If you are a part-time and you really want blogging to work for you then you have to create a schedule so that you can have time for blogging.

Most time we are so busy or at times forgetful that we don’t even remember that blogging is on our list of agenda to do. So having a schedule can help greatly where that is concerned.

Here are 5 tips that you can use if you blog part-time so that you can still become a successful blogger.

Create A Blogging Schedule

1. Writing Contents For Blog

One of the most important activities in blogging today is content writing.

If you have a blog and you don’t write then blogging surly isn’t working for you. So in a case like this, what do you think you need to do?

You have to create a writing schedule.

Setting time aside to write contents for your blog while you have a busy lifestyle will work out greatly.

As mentioned in my previous blog post, you don’t have to write a full blog post in a single day. If you are busy you can put that blog post writing on pause then continue later in the day or another day if things get too busy for you.

As for me, I work Mondays to Saturdays on a 9 to 5. As you can see great time management is required on my part to make blogging work for me. I may start a blog post now and finish it tomorrow.

If you follow this writing tip as a part-time blogger then blogging can work for you.

2. Blog Commenting Strategy

If you leave the comments lonely on your blog then your blog readers will think that you don’t value their opinion. They will think that you don’t value the time they have took to come to your blog and read what you have written. Not only that, but they will also think that you don’t appreciate their comment left on your blog.

Blog commenting is a great way to make your blog come alive, especially if your reply to comments let by your blog readers.

Not only commenting on your blog, but also on other blogs in and out your niche.

You should set aside time to make at least one comment each day. Blog commenting helps to build links to your blog, gives you exposure to other commentators to build your blog traffic and at the same time you can get ideas for new blog posts.

If you find time to make a comment each day then you and your blog can benefit greatly.

Their are basically 30 days in each month, so if you make 1 comment each day then at the end of that month you would have created 30 links for your blog. 2 comments each day would be a total of 60 links to your blog.

The more links you have pointing back to your blog then the more traffic your blog can get.

It doesn’t take long to leave an up-building comment on a blog, all you have to do is read the blog post  that sparked your interest, comment along what you have read and understand in that post.

Remember commenting is now a part of blogging these days so you have to make sure to include this in your schedule as well.

3. Blog Promotion Strategy

Without traffic then your blog is noting but a lonely street.

When a blog has tons of traffic on it then there won’t be any lonely streets. Your blog will come alive like the streets  of Las Vegas.

But in order for that to happen then you have to find time to promote your blog, you have to develop a blog promotion strategy.

Most time people think promoting a blog is hard, but for me it is quite easy and really fun to do.

Where most people do wrong in promoting their blog is that they think that sharing their blog post link on Facebook, Twitter or Google+ is going to make all their friends and followers come to their blog.

No this won’t work.

This is why having a promotion strategy works.

You need to know your audience and what they like. You have to craft your headlines or titles in a which will encourage them to read. You have to also know what time your audience is mostly online.

4. Engaging With Others

When it comes to promotion for your blog, engaging and regular communication is a great way to do so.

But remember that you are a part time blogger, so how will you make this work when you have a tight schedule.

Blogging is not all about you writing articles for your blog or your blog alone. You have to be engaging with other bloggers and also your blog commentators. You have to engage with them by replying to comments left on your blog and also comment on other blogs as well.

Apart from blog commenting you can join blog promotion group on Facebook in which you can participate in group discussions. Facebook groups are awesome when it comes to engagement so as to build up your blog. You can get traffic and also great ideas for your new blog post.

Twitter is a great place to engage with bloggers as well. You can join conversations with a #hashtag and, this as well will help to grow you and your blog.

Participate in forum discussions is the best way of engaging. With a forum you can share your view point with others on a particular topic and boost your blog while doing so. Most forums will allow you to add your signature to your forum profile with a link leading back to your blog. The more you participate in forum discussions then the more links you would be leaving on that forum to your blog.

A great way to build links for SEO for your blog.

Even though you might a lot of time to engage with others, but dedicate at least 10 to 15 minutes for engaging with others, this is a great way to grow your blog.

5. Take Time To Relax

If you work and blog part-time one thing that you definitely need is some relaxation time.

Serious burnout can come your way if you don’t rest.

Taking some time to rest and relax can help your mind to rejuvenate so that you can be able to write great articles for your blog.

In anything you do always remember to rest, you will be able to perform at your best when you are well rested.

Take Care Of Important Things First

If you work or have other things to take care of around the house it would be wise to take care of those thinks first.

Why?

This will leave you with added time for blogging. When you start blogging it is best if you don’t have any thing else to rush off to accomplish.

When it comes to blogging you can become more successful if you concentrate on blogging alone. So taking care of other stuff and then dedicating the rest of your time to blogging works best for you.

If you blog part-time though you might have to find a strategy which works best for you. All you have to do is create a schedule and be sure to stick to it. Doing so will help to make blogging work for you.

Blogging is mainly about writing and if you take steps to in publishing awesome content on your blog then this will only help your blog to grow. Most people who browse the Internet want to read articles that is of high quality and also articles which will be benefiting to them. So writing high quality articles for your blog can make your blog successful, but you have to know how to write those articles so that your blog readers love your blog.

In this article I will be giving you some 5 tips on how you can writing and publishing blog posts that make your readers fall in love with your blog.

Blog Post Writing

Have A Plan Before You Start Writing

Before you start writing you need to have a plan for what you will be writing about for your blog post to turn out great.

Most bloggers fail to publish awesome content because they didn’t plan their blog post before they started their writing process.

If you want your blog post to turn out awesome then you must first plan it. This means you may need to get a pen and paper or a notepad app on your smart phone. Brainstorm for titles that you would like to write about.

When thinking about titles for your post, you may come up with more than one title. Not to worry, this is great because you can then choose from the list of titles that you have noted and analyze which one would grab the attention of people more so that they will want to read the entire article.

After you have  the title for the blog post, you can now list the points of the article which you would like to discuss. These can be referred to as sub-headings.

When you have come up with the sub-headings you can now start your writing process. Write your introduction for the article and make sure that it is appealing to reader.

Always have a great introduction to your blog posts because this is what determines if the reader will continue reading to the end of the post.

Write A Little Each Day

When writing your blog post you don’t necessarily have to finish it in one day. Some blog posts are long and lengthy and may take longer to write.

If you plan on writing a long article then you may also need some time to do research so that you can get your facts straight before you start the writing process for your article.

You can plan your post, just as I had mentioned in the first point above and then start writing the contents of the blog on another day.

Why shouldn’t you rush to writing your blog post?

Most of us today we live busy lives and this is why writing a well detailed blog post may take more than one day to complete.

Not only that, we don’t want to make any mistakes while writing, we want to get our facts straight before writing and we also want to deliver that blog post so that whoever is reading it gets the fullness of what is being said in the article.

Also writing a little each day will help you to become a better writer each day. What you did yesterday while writing you can improve on it today and improve on what you did today, tomorrow. Doing that will help you to become a better writer in no time.

If you want to become a speedy writer though, you can read this post I did about writing blog posts in 20 minutes or less.

Avoid Distractions While Writing

Distractions… Distractions… Distractions!

That is major killer to writing awesome blog post.

Most times while writing we have tons of distractions around us which causes us to lose focus while writing.

I can attest to that. Most times while writing my cellphone goes off, notifications from emails or social media sites, and other stuff always distract me and cause me to lose my concentration while writing.

In order to overcome that what I normally do is to put my cellphone on silent, turn off all notifications and put myself in an environment where distractions are less likely to happen.

When distractions aren’t around you then your only focus will be on the writing of your article. This will help you to think about your readers so that you can deliver your blog post to them in a professional manner.

Remember that distractions can make you lose your chain of thought without you even knowing it and this is why you should avoid distractions while writing your blog posts.

If thought there is a major distraction where you have to stop writing, then remember point number two. You can always continue your blog post writing a next day.

Make Blog Post Easy To Read & Understand

Lots of people don’t like when things are complicated and hard to understand. The same can be said of your blog post, if it is hard to read and understand then your readers will struggle to read your contents or even worst which is end up leaving your blog.

The easier it is to read your articles then the more traffic you will end up getting. Your readers will stay longer on your blog and they are more likely to share it if the content is unique.

Most people will learn or gain knowledge from reading if the article which they are reading is easier to read. This is why our articles must be easy to read.

Fonts should not be small or have a bright color that can be somewhat blinding to the eye.

Normally blogs have a white or gray content area with black font. It is best to stick with that type of theme for your blog.

So be sure to write articles which are easy to read, your blog reader will love your blog even more for that.

Proofread Article & Edit Before Publishing

After you have finished writing your article you may want to take some time to read it over.

Why is that?

This is because all of us are imperfect humans and we tend to make mistakes all the time. So while reading over the article you may want to check for spelling errors and also the use of punctuation. Using a wrong punctuation in the right place or using the right punctuation in the wrong place can convey the wrong impression in a point that you are trying to make.

If you found mistakes while reading over your article then you should correct these so that your blog post can be awesome.

After that you are now ready to publish your article for your readers to gain knowledge on what you have written.

Don’t just write because you haven’t published in a long while because sometimes we end up posting crappy contents, but write contents that appeals to your readers interests and needs.

Another thing why most bloggers fail to come up with contents for their blog is because they fail to start writing. You don’t have to publish an article everyday and you don’t have to write a complete article everyday. But what you should do is write a little everyday so that you can become a better writer.

A great way to do this is by creating a writing schedule and it will only work if you stick to this schedule.

Make Your Blog User Friendly

Ever since I started blogging back in 2010, I have seen some blogs that aren’t user friendly and blogs that are user friendly.

Which blogs do you think were more successful?

If you say that the more successful blogs are the user friendly ones then you are indeed correct!

A blog that is user friendly invites the visitors and readers to stay on that blog or keep coming back to it because it is friendly.

Unlike the other blogs which aren’t user friendly will force it’s visitors away.

To make your blog one of the best in your niche then making it user friendly is the way to go. Have clean navigation bar, don’t clutter with too much ads, make your blog fast and remember to have a nice blog theme.

Promote Each New Blog Post

When it comes to advertising your blog blog then promotion is a must. To get traffic to your blog then you must go out and tell others about it.

After you write your new blog post it is wise to do promotion for that blog post.

A great way for doing promotion for your new blog post is on social media sites. These sites as we know are full of people who can be seen as potential targeted blog traffic.

Promotion via social network sites is vital as well. This will help other bloggers in your niche to notice your blog and visit to check out what you have written.

Blog commenting is another great means of promotion, especially if the blog that you are commenting on has the Comment Luv installed on it.

There are tons of ways that you can promote your new blog post, all you have to do is find the method which works best for you and use that method to it’s fullest each time you publish a new blog post.

Rally Around Other Bloggers In & Out Of Your Niche

Most time bloggers will only hang out with bloggers who are in their niche. What about bloggers in other niches?

Don’t they count as well?

Well they should because we are all bloggers. Hanging out or chatting with bloggers from other niches can help to boost your blog.

Take for example, a blogger from a food niche. You might come to that food blog and find a good recipe and decide to leave a comment thanking that food blogger for the wonderful ingredients to make a very tasty meal. The food blogger might have been having a bit of problem with his blog and decides to check out your blog.

On your blog there is the solution to fix that blogger’s problem. You know what will happen next? You are right, this food blogger will now see your blog as a source help when need to improve their blog’s efficiency.

When you talk with other bloggers from other niches you can both share with each other the tings you have done to get your blog where it is today. Try to apply each others tips to your blog and see how well your blog will benefit from it.

Doing this can help you to become a top blogger in your niche as well.

Local businesses often struggle to make headway in the internet jungle due to a lack of good strategic planning. There is a misconception that simply putting up a quick website or social media page is all that is needed to attract new customers. Unfortunately, this is not the case. There are several common mistakes made by local companies that lead to frustration instead of increased sales.

Ignoring the Email List

Just about every small business has some type of email list of customers. The problem arises when there is zero action taken to communicate with this list. Smaller businesses have a tendency to collect emails after one purchase from a customer and then forget the customer exists. This is a habit that leaves lots of money on the table.
mistake
Savvy companies know that email lists are gold when they take time to build an ongoing relationship with customers via email. Acquiring a customer is much harder than keeping them. That’s why it pays to keep in touch by sending out brief email news, announcements and tips that reminds customers that your company is relevant to their lives.

Lack of Current Content

A website that describes the business and offers is good. However, this information is pretty static, which means over time it becomes stale. Consumers and search engines like to have fresh content. Adding a blog and providing updated information on a monthly basis drives new visitors to your site.

Inadequate Social Media Presence

Some small businesses do not have a social media presence at all. Others have at least one social media page, but it is woefully neglected. Being engaged in social media on a regular basis is an easy way to level the playing field to compete with larger companies.

No Compelling Enticements

The business does not have any unique offers that appeal to potential customers. Providing a free report, white paper, game or contest are some of the things that attract fast attention.

Mobile Consumers Left Out

Like it or not, an increasing number of consumers are using mobile devices to search for products and services online. Small businesses should mobilize their site to stay relevant.

When it comes to effective online marketing local business strategies often leave a lot to be desired. The best way to get more sales for your local business is to come up with a smart marketing strategy that is cost effective, highly targeted and comprehensive.

If you are setting up a company in today’s business environment, you will have to think about the online side of that company. This is in part because the internet has changed where we do business, but far more, it is because the internet has changed how we do business. New ways of reaching customers, new ways of presenting products and new types of product are all aspects of a global marketplace that has been fundamentally transformed by the world wide web.

But this doesn’t mean you have to be a web expert. In fact, almost the opposite is true. There is a trend towards selling everything from eBooks to music online, and this trend has enabled a business-to-business service industry to emerge. It has actually become easier to do business even as what is demanded from websites and online stores is becoming of an ever higher quality.

The traditional problem with this set-up is that many of the digital service providers offer only a highly expensive, one-to-one service that is beyond both the budgets and the needs of many online businesses. The only other option available until now has been to buy a basic template and figure out the world of online marketing as you go along. This false choice has been one of the stumbling blocks for newly online businesses and it is one that is now entirely avoidable. Digitaldownloading is an excellent example of a new approach, striking a middle path between a personalised service and a package that is affordable.

The strength of a company like Digitaldownloading.co.uk is that they offer their customers a personal and expert service without the unnecessary exclusivity of other providers. From digital hosting and streaming to media publishing, Digitaldownloading.co.uk still manages to offer its customers the full range of digital services. The difference is that their service is targeted at a far wider group than the more exclusive providers of the past, meaning that the online marketplace can be opened up to many writers, content creators and organisations which until now have been shut out by the high costs associated with digital services or the high level of knowledge which businesses had to accrue to avoid them.

Online media publishing is a good example of the difference that a more open, widely available approach can make. Many digital content creators struggle to find connections and outlets, and it is difficult to know where to start. Digitaldownloading provides a bridge between these creators and large, mainstream distributors and websites like Amazon and eBay. For a content producer new to the online marketplace, this can make all the difference between seeing a product take off and seeing it fade.

The other key element to any digital service provider worth its salt is the ability to maintain a personal relationship with customers. As online services become ever more sophisticated, this human touch is more and more relevant – so when companies like Digitaldownloading offer face-to-face service, they are showing an understanding of the position of content producers and saying, in effect, that they are there to help producers get to grips with this new marketplace and really take advantage of it.

A good salesman never sleeps. Well, obviously salespeople have to sleep, but when they do, they probably dream of leads.

That next big sale may just be an elevator encounter away. A sweet payday for you and your company may be a chance encounter with a nearby airplane passenger.

Or maybe it isn’t.

That’s the beauty and curse of the world of sales. If it was an exact science, then there would be more millionaires and more Fortune 50 companies.

There isn’t one way to generate sales leads, but more companies are turning to a lead generation service for hot targets. A lead generation service can give you targeted sales leads so you can spend more time closing the deal.

What exactly do you get when you enlist a lead generation service to help you find new customers?

Online search tools

If you fish with one fishing line, how many fish are you likely to catch on each cast? (That’s a rhetorical question, by the way!). However, when you cast a wide fishing net, your chances of landing more than one fish are greater.

A lead generation service can offer you an online database for sales contacts. Many of these companies vary the scope of a particular database depending on the amount of money you spend.

A larger investment means a more comprehensive contact list. A lead generation service company can also offer more involved interaction with the contact data. Packages are available where you are on your own to analyze and utilize sales lead data. You can also find a lead generation service that will dedicate sales professionals to help you use lead data to fit your company’s needs.

Reach out and touch…a bunch of people

Phone companies had advertising slogans 30 years ago that touted “reach out and touch someone.” With a lead generation service company, that slogan needs to be changed to “reach out and touch everyone!”

Another tool offered by a lead generation service is auto or predictive dialing. This tool basically helps you dial more phone numbers in shorter time to increase sales productivity.

Auto dialing programs can be hosted by an outside company or they can be standalone. Some auto dialing systems are integrated into a company’s CRM system and they offer a wide variety of features like call recorders, calendar reminders and targeted pop-up windows on prospective customers.

Campaigns aren’t just for politics

A lead generation service can help you with running targeted advertising campaigns to help grow your business. There are obviously varying levels of campaign involvement depending on the lead generation service you choose.

Campaigns can be created and managed by a lead generation service. They can also be run by you, with campaign links being sent for targeted campaign promotion. A lead generation service can help you create banner and campaign ads that are targeted to your ideal customers.

An added benefit of the campaign aspect of a lead generation service is that these campaigns can be used on an annual basis to generate new revenues and build your customer base. There is no need to reinvent the wheel when a campaign has previously been effective.

Visit Teleark find more exciting ways that a lead generation service can help you find and acquire new customers.
