So, you want to create a blog, but not just any blog, one that will get off the ground with relative ease and become a smashing success. That’s pretty much what every blogger wants, but achieving it can be a whole other can of worms. One of the biggest mistakes bloggers can make is trying to be too many things to too many people. The fact is that you can’t appeal to everyone, so instead, why not focus on one area that you can carve out a niche in and start to build a loyal following.

Still not convinced that you need a blogging niche? If not, then you’re going to want to read on.

What Does It Mean to Have a Blogging Niche?

A blogging niche is a very simple concept. What it means is that you focus your blogs on a particular topic, industry, or area. You don’t branch out and suddenly start covering other things; you stick to that one niche. It’s also acceptable to have guest bloggers and industry experts contribute to your blog, as long as they relate to your niche.

Make It Clear What You are About

A blogging niche gives you a way to show what you are about. Readers will get an instant understanding of what kind of topics you’ll be covering, what industry you are part of, and how what kind of insights you will offer them.

Take, for example, blacksmokemedia.com, which contains plenty of blogs and content about diesel trucks. The moment you land on the homepage it’s clear what the site is working to accomplish and what kind of content you are in for. What this does is attract readers that are interested in that specific content, which also means they are more likely to return. There is no guessing game here and visitors to the site aren’t left with any confusion.

Make it Easier for Yourself

There is also the other side of blogging, and that’s the part where you need to come up with creative and unique content on a regular basis. This can be pretty difficult, but at least when you have a niche to work in, the topics will be clearer to you. You will have some basic parameters to work within.

And it’s not just the topics that will be easier to come by; it will also make finding the keywords easier. You will start to build a list of trending keywords and phrases that you can weave into the various blogs.

Become an Expert

Of course, working in a niche also gives you that sense of being an expert or an authority in your field. If you focus on one key area then people start to recognize your name as being an expert on that topic and will naturally flock to you for information.

A Concentrated Approach

A blogging niche allows for a more concentrated and structured approach to blogging, which is better for you as the writer, and better for your readers.

    Hi Karim Great post!

We choose a niche so we can talk about it and become expert about it. Because there is no master of many but there is master of one. Blogging is very fun and by picking a niche that interest you makes it more fun to do.
