I have been blogging for over 2 years now and I am loving the success that I am having with blogging. I never imagined that I would have had this much success when I first started out online.

Blogging is a form of publishing articles so that other can read online. This means you have to do lots of writing so that others can have something to read.

Some new bloggers struggle to write blog posts and this is why they don’t normally participate in guest blogging. In order to become a great blogger then you have to practice writing. Write everyday until you are perfect.

I love to write blog posts or email newsletters, I am a very busy person and I don’t like to spend too much time writing. This is why I write my blog posts in 20 minutes (or more, depending on how muchΒ researchΒ or information I put into the article).

Here are some tips to write your blog posts in 20 minutes time.

Writing

[box type=”spacer”]Start With A Title[/box]

One of the first part of an article is the title. This is what your visitors will see when they come to your blog. If the title for your article is appealing then your visitors will want to read it. Write interesting, appealing and eye-catching titles so this will make your blog visitors want to read more.

Remember now, you want to write your blog post in about 20 minutes, so don’t spend too much time on coming up with a title. But keep in mind to make it catchy.

[box type=”spacer”]Write The Post Introduction[/box]

I think a great blog post should have an introduction for wetting the reader’s appetite to make them want to read more. I always strive to write a funny or inspiring introduction to catch my readers attention so that I can get the to read the full article.

Again, don’t spend too much time on introductions if you want to get your article writing done in 20 minutes. So be sure to keep your article introduction short yet spicy.

[box type=”spacer”]Jot Down Main Points[/box]

When you jot down your main point on what you want to write about in your blog post then you don’t have to spend much time brainstorming for points to add your your post. Having main post on your note pad can make your article writing smooth and also saves you time when writing.

When you jot down main points then its like half of the article is already completed. After you do that, then you are now ready to write.

[box type=”spacer”]Start Writing Your Post[/box]

In order to complete your article in 20 minutes then you have to make sure that you can type fast, if not then you may go over your 20 minutes mark.

My suggestion to you is that you practice typing everyday so that you can get familiar with the keyword and know where each letter is.

Now that you have the title to your post, the introduction and the main points written down (which may take up about 6-7 minutes); its time for you to start writing your blog post (for about the next 12-14 minutes).

Each point that you have written down you are now going to write paragraphs for each point. Write so that your readers understand each point. Make sure not to jumble each sentence to each other because this will make it difficult to read. Use paragraphs to space each section so that it will also make your writing look neat.

If you need to use keywords and images then you may go over the 20 minutes mark, but no worries, your writing was completed and you can now publish your article.

[box]In Conclusion[/box]

I took about 25 minutes to write this article, almost 700 words, and this is a short time in writing articles. Imagine if I was to spend all day doing article writing, I would have thousands of articles piled up waiting to be published.

What is it like for you when it comes to article writing? How long does it take you?

Great article Kharim I have always wondered about some of the techniques great bloggers use in their writing process, especially when you have a great idea and strapped on time and need to get it out there fast. While I know that sometimes you will have a gem of an article that requires extra time, this is an excellent method to flush out an article and then polish it into a gem as well. Thanks again Kharim.

With efficient article writing, practice makes perfect. So make it a priority to fly at, or under, that 20 minute mark. Also, when you’re brainstorming a title, it might help to think in terms of Twitter. On Twitter, you’re limited. And you have to be catchy. AND you have to make sense. All in 140 characters or less. In fact, the best tweets are often way under 140 characters. So take a lesson from Twitter if you can. Write a headline. Then ask yourself, would this make for an awesome twitter tweet? Would people click on this en masse? If not, try another title or headline.

    • Reply

Yes that is true. I agree with all your points/ When I brainstorm I often try to think of titles that people will search for in search engines so as to get more targeted traffic.

140 Characters I would think is too much. Try to keep it at about 60.

      Thanks for the comment Sam.

Writing a blog post in 20 minutes is considered pretty fast! I need at least 30minutes to 1 hour for a single post with at least 500 words. Getting points for an article takes longer time, once you have point in your mind, then you shall be able to complete in short time. Typing isn’t a problem for me, the only problem for me is the point.

    Anyway, well said Kharim!

    • Reply

The reason why I write so fast is because my brain seems to operate at a faster rate, I type fast, plus I don’t like to spend too much time on one article. ALL my articles seems like a rush because most of them are written in a short period of time and this makes me have lots of articles that I can use as guest posts and readers of those posts likes them because I get lots of comments πŸ™‚

      Thanks Lee for commenting.

You mean you need 20 minutes? lol That’s not bad; most people couldn’t come close to that. You know I can, and often do multiple posts in an hour. I actually decided to try an experiment to see how many posts I could write in an hour without coming up with a title first and wrote 5 400+ word posts in that time. Now, would I say they were great posts? No, but they weren’t bad.

Having said that, I think the advice you gave here is solid for the overwhelming majority of people, and it easily gets rid of the excuse of “I didn’t know what to write.”

    • Reply

Yes Mitch, only 20 minutes to write a great blog post. Its not easy to just get up and write a blog post in that short period of time. Of course it takes practice and lots of brain work to think about what you will write.

I always have something to blog about, tons of ideas jotted down or floating around in my head. I even wrote a guest post some time ago, about I have so much things to blog about when will I have time for myself. πŸ™‚

In that post I talk about the amount of things you can write about on your blog and I have no idea why people say that they don’t know what to write about. Its all about thinking of what people want to read and the problems that they have. Write about the problem and the solution, that right there can be a great post.

      Thanks for the comment.

Hello Kharim, 25 minutes and 700 word articles is definitely a hard thing to do. But if you have a good typing speed and good command over English, you can probably achieve it. I generally require one hour, and when i started blogging for the first time, it used to take more than two hours to write a 700 word long article.

    • Reply

For me it took me over an hour to write a great blog post. But over the 2 years that I have been blogging then its much easier. Research posts normally takes longer. But once you have the necessary information needed then you can complete the article in a short time, with good typing speed.

Writing n engaging post is a tough task for a blogger. One needs to write something that his readers are interested in and that engages his reader well. The tips you mentioned are amazing and they surely will help one write an article within 20 minutes or less, but as a blogger, I personally think that one should take his time to produce a hard-hitting article that catches the readers’ attention instantly rather than running into writing one for the sake of just updating the post.

I hope you too will agree with me on this point. πŸ™‚

    • Reply

Yes you are right. If you want to produce an excellent article then you may have to spend longer time to write it. But also take to note that not everyone likes to read over 2,000 words, so I recommend at times you write short and spicy articles.

      Thanks for the comment, Arbaz.

I read your post last night and decided to try our your process this morning. I sat down to write at 7 a.m., and by 7.30 a.m., I had written my introduction and created a detailed outline of every section of my paper. All I have to do now is fill in the sections.

What I try to do most of the times so as to not have a writing blunder is to write my blog post as if I am talking directly to the person. I also have a fast thinking ability and my brain is always clicking, so this makes it even easier to come up with the right words.

What also helps me to write/type fast is that I don’t have to look at the keyboard while typing, this of course comes with years of typing and practicing.

Thanks for the comment and sharing as well Amrik.

Hi Kharim, great post on how to write fast.

One of the greatest skills I learned from highschool was in a typing class.

That class allows me to work effectively on my computer today. Typing skills are super important in today’s world. My wife wonders how it is that I can type something while totally not looking at the screen at all.

But that is what happens when your typing skills grow.

Just wanted to point out a typo for you:

You wrote: Start Writing You Post instead of “Start Writing Your Post”.

Understandable if you were able to type all of that in 25 minutes.

Thanks for another great post Kharim!

Hi Dave, thanks for backing me up on that typo. I was writing too fast that I didn’t even noticed it πŸ˜€

When you are able to type without looking at the screen then that means you can write an article in a short time. This also goes to show that your thought can flow which also makes it easier for you to come up with ideas to write about.

Thanks for the comment Dave and I really appreciate your input.
