Blogging is a process in which you write articles and publish them on your blog.

If you are a blogger then you know that it is important in having contents on your blog so that your blog visitors will have something to read.

In order for a blogger to be successful in his/her blogging then this person needs to take into consideration the posting frequency of their blog and also the best time to do some writing.

When should you write and publish new blog posts?

This is a very important topic and something to consider if you own a blog. Let us discuss further on this.

[box type=”blue”]When Should You Write New Blog Posts?[/box]

The truth is you can write blog posts anytime you feel like. Of course this is your blog, you are a blogger and this is what bloggers do.

But what about publishing?

I don’t recommend that you publish a blog post everyday… I will discuss more about this later on in this post, but for now lets talk about writing.

[box type=”spacer”]5 Great Blog Writing Tips[/box]

  • Practice To Write Everyday

Writing everyday helps you to develop great writing techniques. Most people struggle to write because they fail to do a bit of writing everyday and when they do become a blogger they come up with the conclusion that blogging is hard because they don;t know what to write about.

Everyday writing doesn’t necessarily mean that you are going to write over 1,000 words. If you do simple writing such as 300 words per day then this will help you to become a great writer in no time.

If you do this then you will be writing great blog posts for your blog readers to read.

[box]DON’T MISS: How To Write A Great Blog Post In 20 Minutes [/box]

  • Do Research Before Writing

Before you start writing your blog posts, make sure that you have all your facts straight. You don’t want to be publishing crap for your visitors to read.

You want to publish articles that has great value to your blog readers. So doing some research before you start writing will help to widen your knowledge and also your vocabulary.

  • Write When You Feel The Urge

Most of the times why my blog posts come out great is because I write when I feel the urge to write.

I don’t like to force myself to write and this is not recommend for anybody to force themselves to write.

Why?

If you force yourself to write then you tend to make mistakes and your articles won’t be of high quality.

Forcing yourself to write also contributes to the blogger burnout syndrome where you get tired of blogging. You no longer enjoy blogging and think of writing a blog post as doing a chore around the house.

You should enjoy writing and this should come naturally. If your writing comes naturally then your thoughts will flow and writing your blog post will be very easy.

  • Avoid Distractions While Writing

While writing your blog posts you want to avoid distractions.

Turn the music off.

Close that YouTube tab.

Log out of Facebook for awhile.

Sit back, stay focus and write your blog post.

You don;t have to write a complete blog post. You can write it little by little until you complete it.

I started writing this blog post at work and now I am completing the other half at home.

If you get distracted while writing then you need to save your article and continue writing at another time convenient to you. This will help you to focus more on your writing so that you can product some great contents on your blog.

  • Write Awesome Headlines And Introduction

If you write great headlines and awesome introductions to your blog posts then you have done a great job in getting people to your post.

Headlines are the first thing that a person always read before clicking through to an article. If the introduction to your article is great then this will further encourage the person to want to read the article to the end.

[box type=”red”]When Should You Publish New Posts?[/box]

  • High Post Frequency Attracts And Keep Visitors

In order to attract more traffic to your blog then you have to have a high post frequency.

New blogs especially need to publish on a regular basis so to attract visitors to their blog. If your blog doesn’t have much content then you need to step up your posting frequency so that you can let people know that you have contents on your blog to keep them occupied.

  • High Posting Frequency Also Kills A Blog

When a blogger publishes everyday this can help to kill a blog as well.

Publishing too often doesn’t allow your blog visitors the time to make comments or even get time to read all the published articles. Your blog visitors more than likely read other blogs as well so publishing too often will make them miss some of your contents.

Publishing too often can also annoy your blog visitors. If they get an email from you everyday, if they subscribed via email, can be like spamming their inbox. This will make them unsubscribe from your blog.

Also publishing too often can lead to crappy or undeveloped articles. If you post too often this means you are rushing to write. You may leave out the SEO or make a few mistakes while writing your article.

So take time out to write your articles and don’t be so eager to publish on a daily basis.

Low Posting Frequency
This will also help to kill your blog.

Not posting often can make tour traffic die down and also make your subscribers leave your list.

Try not to make a week past without publishing a new article. This will show that you have not abandoned  your blog or your blog readers.

[box type=”spacer”]When Is Best To Publish New Posts?[/box]

It is best to publish new blog posts 2 to 3 times weekly, or even more days apart.

Why so far apart?

This gives your blog visitors more time to read your articles.

During these days that you don’t publish you can take time to write more posts to publish at a later date, do blog commenting, guest posting, blog promotion, reply to comments or tweak your blog to make it better.

High blog posting frequency has its advantages and disadvantages. You have to find out what works best for your blog and stick to it.

    Hi Kharim,

Good question. There is no stipulated time as such to write a post. When you have the urge to write something, you should do it. It is all instinctive. Thoughts which are useful should not be lost.

      Hey Amit,

      You are right about that.

No special time, but you have to just work with what works well for your blog. Every blog is different and my posting time may work for my blog but not on other blogs.

      Thanks for the comment pal.

Blogging is a skill. A well crafted blog will contain well crafted blog articles. There is no point writing a blog post that is not well researched, people will see through it after a while and stop coming. For instance, I come to your blog because I find it useful and I know I will find something here that I can take in and implement on my own blog.

I agree with the 2 to 3 times a week formula as long as they are promoted well on social sites then its fine. Also increased frequency is not good readers need to take in all the information. But I suppose once a week is fine as well.

    • Reply

      Hello Shalu,

For now I post once a week and as you can see my blog is still getting visited and also getting comments.

I posted once or twice per week because I had some things taking care of. Now that I am finished taking care of such business then I am going to be blogging more, guest blogging and also video blogging with tutorials.

It’s time for me to take this blog to the pro blogger level.

      Thanks for the comment 🙂

Well publishing can be done anytime of the day or any day of the week.

What you need to know is when most people come to your blog and the time zone that they live in.

Knowing this will let you know when best to publish so that you can get readers to your new blog post.

I was thinking about this question some days back. I also figured that 3 times a week is best but 2 is OK if one is busy with other things. If a blogger likes to comment on other blogs then expect others to comment in return hence its wise not to blog every single day. Posting everyday will cause a blog to loose its lustre quite quickly. So a couple of decent articles a week that are thought provoking will do the trick.

    • Reply

Same here for me as well. 2 to 3 days per week is the best for a blog to become successful Just be sure to publish high quality posts which readers want.

“It is best to publish new blog posts 2 to 3 times daily, or even more days apart.”

You should replace it with 2 to 3 time weekly..

According to me.. posting frequency doesn’t matter.

If you’re writing quality content on regular basis, post daily..
If not, take time and produce ONLY quality content..

There’s no way one can overwhelm their readers until they provide quality content.

      Thanks for the correction pal.

Well some readers do complain if they subscribe and get too much email via rss. So lowering the posting frequency can also be good.

I definitely agree that it’s good to write when the urge is there. Blogging is suppose to be something that’s at least somewhat enjoyable and this always shows up in the blog post. I also agree with you that blogging daily can actually have a negative impact even on the quality of the posts. Having a post once every week allows enough time to go over the content multiple times, adding and subtracting ideas while polishing it up and removing grammatical mistakes/filler.

Also posting once a week allows you to do more blog promotion. This will help you to get more comments as well and also provides time to write more high quality blog posts.

    Hi Kharim,
Great insights here while posting blogs.I guess too much posting also may not provide fruitful results as readers need time to read the whole post and comment on it.

There should be a limit while posting although time gap should not be more. One may post regularly giving a time gap of a day or two.Because he/she also needs time to give feedback to their readers as well.

Yep! Too much posting can kill your blog even though you think you might be giving your readers what they want/ But drowning them with too much information can make your blog readers annoyed and not come back to your blog.

Kharim for Posting Schedule I always extremely recommend Weekly, and 2-3 posts per week.. And hate that Daily posting schedule, which leads to low quality content because you’ve to write your next post just after publishing the previous one! So, you also don’t have got the time to do some blog post promotion works.

You’ll be probably end up losing interest in blogging, because you won’t get even a single social share, comments and much traffic to that post because of no promotion!

    That’s it. I recommend.

Avoid using Daily Posting Schedule to all who’re using it right the days. 🙂

    Thanks for that.

I recommend that schedule as well for posting. I have been doing 1 post per week and this has still been working out for my blog.

I don’t like daily posting as well. I think this is a bit too much.
